The top three
1) Woodcutter's Blanket — the current king. Craft beer from Yukon Brewing and Winterlong, wood-fired plates, actual cocktails. Book weekends. Pints $8–10. 2) Dirty Northern Public House — the traditional pub, big beer list including out-of-territory picks, decent nachos, ideal for a first-night pint on 2nd Avenue. 3) Yukon Brewing tap room — Industrial Road, the source, tastings and flights, closes early (8pm), but if you like beer this is a pilgrimage.
The other two
4) The Deck at the Coast High Country Inn — the closest thing Whitehorse has to a rooftop, open May to September, decent cocktail list, midnight sun views over Main Street. 5) The Kopper King Tavern — old-school, local, karaoke Wednesdays, not for everyone but authentic. Skip: the hotel-lobby bars at the Westmark, which serve their function but are not destinations. Skip the Sports Bar unless you are watching a hockey game.
Practical bar notes
Last call is 2am territory-wide but most places wind down by midnight on weeknights. Yukon Brewing (Yukon Gold, Chilkoot Lager) is on tap everywhere. Winterlong is the newer craft option and worth ordering when you see it. Cocktails run $14–18 at the top bars, $10 at the Kopper King. Tipping 15–20% is standard. IDs are checked hard — bring passport if you look under 30. Downtown is walkable; taxis take 5 minutes if not.
