The three that actually work
1) Baked Cafe — Main Street, biggest space, fastest wifi, outlets under most tables, opens at 7am. Pastries are the best in town. This is where you’ll see other laptops. 2) Bean North Coffee Roasting — 15 minutes out on Takhini Hot Springs Road, their own roast, quieter, better vibe for actual deep work, closes at 4pm. 3) Alchemy Cafe — kitchen-forward with vegetarian everything, wifi passable, seats limited, be there before 11am to grab a corner.
The three when the first three are full
4) Burnt Toast Cafe — brunch spot, wifi works but they’ll turn tables at 11am. Good for a two-hour session. 5) Midnight Sun Coffee Roasters — small, tiny seating, but the roast is the best in the territory; grab a bag and go work elsewhere. 6) The Kind Cafe — cozier, plant-based menu, decent for a 90-minute stretch, closes early. Nothing in Whitehorse stays open past 6pm for laptop use — this is not a night-work town.
Practical notes
Wifi is generally solid across all six — Yukon fibre is real. Cell coverage in downtown is 4G/LTE Bell, Rogers, and Telus. A flat white runs $5.50. Nobody minds if you sit for two hours with one drink; three hours ask for a second. Weekend mornings between 9 and 11 are packed, especially at Baked and Burnt Toast — arrive before 9 or after 12. Standing desks and coworking specifically: try (co)space Yukon, $25/day, actually designed for this.
